Editors cut down - lSD should be about cutting down

Eureka: We're editors - Signal vs. Noise (by 37signals)

I think there is much to learn from 37signals on many different planes but this post sums up one point nicely. Design is about cutting down content much like editing is about cutting words.
Great design is saying the most with the least. Great brands speak volumes with one graphic symbol. Great elearning should be only big enough to get the message across.
Some times it feels like we fill courses with content just because we feel like we should. What if you could meet the instructional objective with one well designed page. Do you still create the course because that's what the client asked for?
Remember...simplicity, clarity, grace, and beauty. Do that and you're done with one word, one page, or one course...but only just the smallest amount necessary.
